The Auckland Project is a regeneration charity transforming Bishop Auckland into a premier visitor destination through a unique collection of heritage attractions, galleries and gardens.

With Auckland Castle, the Spanish Gallery, the Mining Art Gallery and the recently opened Faith Museum accessible with these tickets, the historic venues tell the remarkable story of Bishop Auckland, from the powerful Prince Bishops of Durham to the town’s surprising connection to the Golden Age of Spanish Art.

Jared Bowers, chief operating officer at The Auckland Project, said: “As a charity, we do as much as we can to help all parts of our community benefit from the historic sites across Bishop Auckland. Times are tough for many people and we’re delighted to offer £1 tickets to families in need of a day out, fresh air and a change of scenery. With an array of attractions that reveal the rich history of the area, there’s plenty for families of all ages to get stuck into at The Auckland Project. We want to welcome everyone at our venues – come and explore the castle and its vast parkland, learn more about Bishop Auckland’s long-standing connection to Spanish Art, or delve deeper into the incredible creativity of the Mining Art Gallery, whose paintings reveal so much about the relationship between County Durham and the mining industry.”
