Summer Fest event, featuring a range of live music, theatre and outdoor cinema. On this night, we are proud to offer a FREE community concert featuring County Durham’s own Bearpark & Esh Colliery Mining Brass Band!
Formed in 1950 by eight men who each initially contributed £8 to start an instrument fund, the band are a 2nd Section band based in Esh Winning that feature a full and varied programme that they’ve performed throughout the North East. Winning awards and competitions along the way, the band continues to keep the local mining heritage alive, playing a wide variety of music from a traditional brass band repertoire to rock and pop.
What is Summer Fest?
Summer Fest is a month-long event at Auckland Castle, happening on weekends between 22nd June – 20th July. Featuring a range of musical performances, family theatre and outdoor cinema, this special evening event takes place on the Bowling Green beside the castle.
What happens in bad weather?
It may become necessary to cancel the event if the weather makes it unsafe. If we do have to do this, the decision will be made as early as possible so that we can let people know before they arrive. If we do have to cancel, we will inform you of the best way to proceed with your purchased ticket.
What should I wear/bring?
This is an outdoor event on a lawn so please dress accordingly and feel free to bring a blanket or chairs.
Is there food and drink available onsite?
You are welcome to bring your own food, and there will also be food and drink outlets at the event as well. Please note, we only accept card payments.
Is parking available?
Parking for this event will be at the North Bond Gate car park at 33 N Bondgate, Bishop Auckland DL14 7PG. There are electric car charging points available.
When should I arrive?
Doors will open 30 minutes before the performance starts and we kindly request that all guests are seated five minutes before the start time.
