The Auckland Project are excited to announce their first ever Summer Fest event, featuring a range of live music, theatre and outdoor cinema. On this night, we welcome a special Family Night celebration featuring 2 stellar acts, Unicorn Dance Party and Mad Alice Theatre Company!
Unicorn Dance Party is a performance project that celebrates joy, sparkles and finding your inner unicorn! Sparkling unicorns Melody and Luna are looking for new unicorn pals and they’ve heard there are some in your area! So to find/meet them, they’re throwing the best dance party ever and they need your help! By practices their dance moves, creating the ultimate playlist of everyone’s favourite tunes, and adding a bit of pizazz to their space and their outfits, this party is sure to be a great time! With easy-to-follow along dances and visual spectacle, this interactive show for ages 5+ and their families will unlock the joy within us all!
Mad Alice Theatre Company develops and produces high quality professional theatre touring in Country Durham as well as nationally. They specialise in theatre for children and families and have performed a range of productions from Shakespeare to their own stories across several venues in the North East. For this event, they are performing their new show ‘Save our Sandwich’. Join Cordelia, Professor-Queen of Carrotology and all things veg. Hit the high notes with Henk the Hungry as he goes bananas and sings for his supper. Indulge your thirst for knowledge and take part in the Quirky ‘Quiz Cuisine’. Witness the world’s most endangered sandwich. Food for thought, food for the soul, something for all tastes! This show is great fun, whacky, silly, educational and highly participatory that features live music and dancing.
What is Summer Fest?
Summer Fest is a month-long event at Auckland Castle, happening on weekends between 22nd June – 20th July. Featuring a range of musical performances, family theatre and outdoor cinema, this special evening event takes place on the Bowling Green beside the castle.
What happens in bad weather?
It may become necessary to cancel the event if the weather makes it unsafe. If we do have to do this, the decision will be made as early as possible so that we can let people know before they arrive. If we do have to cancel, we will inform you of the best way to proceed with your purchased ticket.
What should I wear/bring?
This is an outdoor event on a lawn so please dress accordingly and feel free to bring a blanket or chairs.
Is there food and drink available onsite?
You are welcome to bring your own food, and there will also be food and drink outlets at the event as well. Please note, we only accept card payments.
Is parking available?
Parking for this event will be at the North Bond Gate car park at 33 N Bondgate, Bishop Auckland DL14 7PG. There are electric car charging points available.
When should I arrive?
Doors will open 30 minutes before the performance starts and we kindly request that all guests are seated five minutes before the start time.
Are dogs allowed?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Summer Fest, but we kindly ask you clean up after them, or you may be asked to leave the premises without a refund.
Will there be alcohol for sale?
Alcohol will be available from the bar, which will also sell snacks.
Can I bring my own drinks and snacks?
You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks, but no glass is allowed. Food trucks will also be on site.
Will you be running bag checks?
We will be running bag checks to ensure no glass is brought onto the Bowling Green.
