The ‘We Were Here’ theatrical walks take participants through the hidden history of the local women of Bishop Auckland .
Through interactive storytelling, we shine a light on those who have been overlooked – the ‘Missing’ women. It is a playful oral history of the Market Place, supported by costume and conversation.

Starting at Auckland Tower with Mrs Moule, the Bishop’s wife in Victorian Britain, then moving through the Market Place visitors will find out about Elanor Jackson (who may or may not have plotted against the king in 1605), alongside other women who worked, shopped and lived in the Bishop Auckland Market.
This is a FREE 1 hour tour starting at the Tower with the Engagement and Learning Team of The Auckland Project.
