STEPPING STONES MARKS ITS FIRST YEAR Monday, 18 December 2017
The free Stepping Stones to Employment project, which helps local people find their feet in the world of work, has marked its first year in action.
County Durham Housing Group and The Auckland Project have run four Stepping Stones courses throughout 2017, with sessions taking place in Coundon, Bishop Auckland and Willington.
Of the 29 people who took part in the course, nine have found jobs, two have taken up apprenticeships, five have moved into further training and seven have taken up volunteering roles.
Members of the Engagement Team at The Auckland Project, helped lead the groups in tasks designed to improve communication skills, build up self-esteem and prepare people to re-enter the workplace after a period out of work.
Everyone taking part in the 10-week programme also had the opportunity to gain qualifications in first aid, food safety, IT skills, health and safety skills as well as risk assessment training, co-ordinated by County Durham Housing Group.
Applications are now open for the next free course, which will begin in January. For more information or to apply contact Alison Tweddle, Community Outreach at The Auckland Project on 01388 734782 or email: [email protected]
