Gillian and Tim Scott in Pod

POD CREATIVE BUSINESS HUB SEEKS AMBITIOUS ENTREPRENEURS Tuesday, 19 April 2016

A business accelerator hub launched to boost Bishop Auckland’s economic growth is seeking budding entrepreneurs to fill new low cost studio space.

The move comes as the initiative backed by the Auckland Castle Trust, celebrates its first anniversary since launching at 42 Market Place.

Six new studios have been created within Pod, adding to its existing offering which to date has given more than 50 County Durham artists the opportunity to both sell and exhibit their work on an ongoing basis.

Now the call has gone out for ambitious and creative business people to come forward and emulate the success of designer jewellery and homeware brand Gillian Arnold, which has increased its workforce and seen turnover double since becoming the first operation to move into Pod just over a year ago.

The retail side of Pod has already proved a hit with Bishop Auckland townspeople and visitors alike, with an array of craftspeople selling their unique works.
