OPENING DATES ANNOUNCED Thursday, 14 December 2017
We are pleased to announce that our new visitor centre, Auckland Tower, will open on Saturday, July 21 2018 and Auckland Castle will re-open on Saturday, 1 December 2018.
Auckland Castle will open its doors to the public in time for a festive celebration, coinciding with the annual Christmas Market and holiday period.
Over the past few months, a number of exciting historic finds have been revealed in the course of the Castle’s multi-million pound conservation programme.
These finds, and a few unexpected challenges, mean that the re-opening date has been moved from summer 2018 to 1 December 2018.
Auckland Tower, our purpose built welcome centre and ticket hall, will open on Saturday, 21 July 2018.
The Tower has been designed by award-winning architects Niall McLaughlin and offers visitors unrivalled views from its 29 metre high tower.
Its launch was originally planned for spring 2018 but material delays and stormy weather have hindered construction.
More information regarding the public opening events programme for both Auckland Tower and Auckland Castle will be released in 2018.
