Child Weardale

With summer half term just round the corner it's easy to have an affordable day out with the kids – buy one valid adult ticket on Weardale Railway services and take up to two children with you for £1 each. This promotion is running Bank Holiday Monday 29th May, Wednesday 31st May and Saturday 3rd June.

Here is some inspiration and things to see and do on our railway line; Wolsingham has lots of amenities, a great recreation park for all ages, indoor swimming pool, a cafe, gift shop and grocers. Tunstall Reservoir is a short walk away – a perfect spot for a picnic in breathtaking surroundings. Stanhope is a picturesque haven for visitors amidst beautiful scenery; the peaceful waters of the River Wear provide an idyllic backdrop for those who enjoy being outdoors and active too. Don't miss the opportunity to see the famous fossil tree which is approximately 320 million years old!

There are lovely walks from the village of Witton-le-Wear to Witton Castle through woodland, lakes and along the riverbank. Witton Castle has a cafe and seeing the resident peacocks is always a treat!
