Faith Museum

We’re preparing to open the first museum in England to contemplate the history of faith in Britain and what it means in the present day.

The British Isles have reflected the changing face of faith for thousands of years, from the beliefs of communities in the deep past and the first Christian missions to today’s multi-faith society.

We live in a world where many ignore faith, while some see it through a glass darkly and for others it is the metronome of life. The museum is designed to examine the human condition and our beliefs, navigating the complexities without steering the visitor towards a set conclusion.

The Faith Museum will be housed in the existing historic Scotland Wing of Auckland Castle as well as in a new extension designed by Nìall McLaughlin Architects.
